Getting Started

Get up and running with TeXnative in minutes.

Installation

Install TeXnative using the Quarto template command:

quarto use template wearetechnative/texnative

This command:

  1. Downloads the TeXnative extension to _extensions/texnative/
  2. Creates a starter template.qmd file

Basic Usage

Add the following to your document’s YAML front matter:

---
title: My Document
format: texnative-pdf
filters:
  - texnative
---

Then render your document:

quarto render mydocument.qmd

Document Metadata

Add optional metadata for the cover page:

---
title: Project Proposal
subtitle: Q4 Planning Document
author: Jane Dean
date: last-modified
type: Report
document_version: 1
document_number: PROP-2024-001

format: texnative-pdf
filters:
  - texnative
---

Theme Selection

TeXnative includes light and dark themes:

Light Theme (Default)

Replace the default letterhead and cover images with your own:

letterhead_img: path/to/letterhead.png
letterhead_img_darkbg: path/to/letterhead-dark.png
cover_illustration_img: path/to/cover.jpg
cover_illustration_img_darkbg: path/to/cover-dark.jpg
